The Department of Energy's August 2023 Enforcement

October 20, 2023

Effective August 2023, the Department of Energy (DOE) require manufacturers to discontinue production and sale of most traditional light bulbs in the U.S., encouraging consumers to "flip the switch" to LED products. Candex supports eco-friendly endeavors and as such, incandescent and halogen light bulb product lines from Candex have come to an end.

Key Points about the New Standards

The DOE requires light bulbs to emit at least 45 lumens per watt (lumens is the measure of brightness). The federal regulation does prohibit manufacture and sale of non-conforming bulbs - but not their use, so consumers may continue to use such traditional bulbs purchased before August 2023.

Why Focus on Light Bulbs?

Lighting consumes a significant portion of energy in both residential and commercial spaces. Traditional incandescent bulbs, nortorious for their inefficiency, have been pressed to phase out in favor of more energy-efficient LED bulbs.

DOE's Crackdown

Here's what you need to know:

  1. Tough standards for light bulbs, ensuring only the most efficient products reach consumers.
  2. Market vigilance by monitoring the market
  3. Public awareness campaigns to promote energy-efficient lighting

Our Promise

In conclusion, the collaboration between regulatory bodies and industry leaders is a combined commendable effort for a greener future. We take pride in our commitment to sustainability. As a trusted manufacturer, Candex will continue to offer high-quality lighting products and expert guidance to help you make the most energy-efficient choices. Brighter when we are together.
